Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is used widely today in addiction treatment. CBT teaches those in treatment for a substance use disorder to find connections between their thoughts, feelings, and actions and increase awareness of how these things impact recovery. When an individual with an addiction understands why they feel or act a certain way they will come to understand how those feelings and actions lead to substance use.
