How Much Does Inpatient Rehab Cost on Average?
Inpatient rehab for addiction is a great option for many people and it can help expedite healing and recovery. Many people aren’t able to overcome addiction on their own, and participating in an inpatient rehab allows them to immerse themselves in the help they need. They’ll not only receive regular therapy but they’ll be in a controlled and healthy environment with 24/7 care and no access to any substance.
However, there are many factors to consider when deciding if inpatient rehab, specifically, is the right choice for yourself or a loved one. These things include the severity of addiction, living circumstances, support network, and often – cost.
Cost is a big factor for some, and it can vary for each individual and their circumstances. It also depends on the quality of the program you’re entering, and what they offer. Read on to learn more about inpatient rehab and its cost factors.
Level of Care
One of the first things you must consider is the level of care you receive during your stay. Not all inpatient programs are of equal quality, and some are more intensive than others. For example, our program here at Lily Recovery offers multiple private and group therapy sessions each week. Some less intensive programs only offer one or two weekly sessions, which may be appropriate for certain individuals.
While therapy is a huge part of any inpatient rehab program, there are other elements to your recovery. This includes a detox period and medication. Both of these can make a stay more expensive, but not everyone needs either or both of these things.
Educational Level of Staff
The education and qualifications of the staff may also come into play. Counsellors and therapists receive intensive training before they can help you. Beyond that, they become better equipped and more knowledgeable the longer they work.
The more qualified and experienced the staff is at an inpatient rehab program, the more expensive it often is. However, this is worth the cost for many as top-quality care leads to stronger and more long-term results.
Programs Offered
You must also look at the additional programs and services the facility offers. Accommodations and regular therapy are baseline and many programs offer much more. This can include several different things:
- Meal plans
- Recreational activities
- Alternate/holistic treatments and therapies
- Outpatient and aftercare support
- Alumni programs
- Premium facilities such as onsite spas, gyms, etc.
Some facilities may offer all these things, some none, and others a select few. Which programs you need or want depends on a few things, such as personal preference, comfort level, addiction severity, etc.
Our inpatient program at Lily Recovery offers many of these things to make your stay as comfortable and comprehensive as possible.
Length of Stay
One of the biggest factors in the cost of an inpatient rehab program is how long you stay. The average stay is about a month or so, but some patients may need significantly more time. Regardless of how much therapy you’re getting or what programs you participate in, longer stays are more expensive even if just for basic things like food and accommodation.
Early discussions with healthcare professionals may be able to estimate approximately how long you’ll need to stay, but nothing is ever set in stone.
Average Cost
Considering all of this, the average cost of an inpatient rehab program in Ontario is around $5000-10,000 per month. However, this is a wide range that can still be wider depending on all factors – the quality of care, services offered, amenities and facilities, etc.
