Spiritual Therapy

Healing and recovering from addiction is often a long and involved process. Everyone is also different, so there’s no single formula that works in every case. This is why there are so many forms of therapies out there with varying techniques and approaches. The most effective form of therapy can also depend on the type and severity of the addiction, how long it’s been going on, and the individual’s past experiences. At Lily Recovery, we want to give you the best chance at achieving long-term success. To do this, we believe in a comprehensive, whole-body approach that includes healing and treatment for the mind, body, and spirit.

Spiritual therapy for women is a big part of this. Regardless of your specific belief system, spiritual therapy can help you connect to yourself, the world, and your higher power. All of this is crucial in healing your mind as you heal your body from the grip of addiction.

What is Spiritual Therapy?

Spiritual therapy is a multi-faceted method that helps you explore and deepen your spiritual self. It helps you find metaphysical and existential meaning behind life and your experiences while allowing you to dig deeper into the root cause of certain issues.

You’ll find inner strength and enhance your inner wisdom while addressing symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression that may surround you during recovery. Ultimately, it helps you heal your mind and connect with your higher self.

All of this can look different for every individual. Some examples of the specific effects of spiritual psychotherapy for women include:

  • Healing through forgiveness. Remaining angry and holding grudges is detrimental to your health and can prolong your recovery process. Spiritual counseling for women can help you reach a place of forgiveness, for both yourself and others.
  • Practicing gratitude. It’s easy to become bitter and resentful about your circumstances. But, finding something to be grateful for and actively practicing gratitude can lift mental burdens and help you become more mindful.
  • Find purpose. Recovering from addiction can come with lots of guilt, shame, confusion, and more. By going through spiritual therapy, you can find deeper purpose and meaning in your life. This can increase motivation and foster healthier actions and habits in your life while giving you a feeling of usefulness and importance.
  • Connect with grace. Practices like prayer, reading, and meditation can give you a stronger connection with grace – most importantly towards yourself.
  • Practicing spirituality can help you develop a sense of accountability towards yourself and/or a higher power. This can help you stay on track with your treatment.
  • Overcome mental illness. Many struggle with things like depression and anxiety alongside addiction. These things can make recovery and treatment harder and more stressful – spiritual therapy is an excellent way to mitigate these things and their symptoms.

By practicing mindfulness and going through spiritual therapy, you may find many physical symptoms clear up and improve as well. Physical and mental effects you may experience include lower blood pressure and heart rate, better mental clarity, more joy, less irritability and aggression, and a smaller chance of relapse.

Any spiritual healer for women understands that not only is everyone different, but women are unique in the way they deal with things. This is why we’ve created a women-only program employed by only women.

Our spiritual therapy and other methods are tailored to women specifically and we believe the female-centered environment will help you feel safe and comfortable. Throughout your spiritual therapy treatment, you’ll participate in many different sessions and activities. Some of the most common and effective spiritual therapy techniques include:

  • This is a common practice used for clearing your mind and finding inner peace. Many are unfamiliar with meditation which is why we’ll take you through guided meditation sessions if necessary.
  • Yoga is a physical and mental practice that involves using specific poses combined with breathing exercises. The exercises are strung together into a routine that can last anywhere from five minutes to an hour or more. Regardless of length, yoga strengthens your body, calms your mind, and helps you get more in tune with your spirit.
  • This is a Japanese form of energy work that’s used to help release tension in the body and mind.
  • Prayer. These sessions look different for everyone but often involve reading passages from sacred texts to bring clarity and peace where there’s confusion.
  • Aromatherapy. By using the right combination of essential oils you can improve and alter your mood, ease stress, release tension, increase your focus, and more.
  • Reflective writing. This is a simple one but it can be so powerful. By writing down your thoughts and feelings, you can gain better insight into your own self. This is a great habit to pick up on your own time, but during sessions, your therapist can offer guidance, ideas, and prompts to help you get started.

Many of these things can take place either individually or as a group. You can work one-on-one with a spiritual therapist for women if that makes you more comfortable. There are benefits to working in a group setting, however. It can help you gain confidence, give you new perspectives, and you can build a community of support.
