What is Inpatient Rehab?

Recovering from addiction is a journey, and choosing a treatment plan is a crucial step early in the process. There are various options that come with pros, cons, and different methods. Each person, situation, and circumstance is unique, so treatment must be selected carefully.

Inpatient rehab is a great option for many people as it allows you to fully immerse yourself in a safe, comfortable environment with help at the ready. It shares many similarities with outpatient rehab programs but also has some key differences and advantages.

Read on to learn more about inpatient rehab, how it can help, and if it’s the right move for you.

Outpatient Rehab

Before you make a decision, it’s important to fully understand what inpatient rehab is and how it differs from outpatient programs.

Outpatient treatment is often less restrictive than an inpatient program, but it can still be quite involved. There are various levels of outpatient treatment – you may receive multiple hours of therapy every day, or only over a few days a week. It’s all tailored to what treatment you require and how intensive you need it to be.

Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP) is the most intensive form of outpatient treatment. This involves five or six hours of treatment every day. Patients often transition into this type of treatment from an inpatient program. It’s a great way to get accustomed to the “real world” and what it’s like to be living at home or with family again.

Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) is a step below PHP and involves around three hours of treatment per day for three to five days each week. This gives you more flexibility, freedom, and time to engage in other things.

Therapy sessions during outpatient treatments often focus on things like relapse prevention, coping skills, group counseling, and sustaining long-term recovery. Outpatient programs usually last around three to six months, depending on your circumstances and how long you need the support.

Inpatient Rehab

Although intensive, outpatient programs are not all-encompassing. Patients stay in their own accommodations and have access to more of the outside world. Inpatient rehab takes addiction treatment and recovery to an even deeper level. An inpatient treatment program requires you to stay in-house for the duration of your treatment. Inpatient rehab facilities vary in size, but the best ones offer a level of comfort and privacy even while taking in multiple patients at once. It’s the ideal setting for those struggling with a severe addiction, or if you simply know you can’t reach your recovery goals by yourself.

It’s also a great option for those struggling with mental health conditions at the same time as addiction. Co-occurring mental health disorders are common, and are often exacerbated by an addiction. This requires specialized, attentive treatment that we are fully capable of providing here at Lily Recovery.

At Lily Recovery, we’ve found the perfect balance. Our program accepts only ten women at any given time, giving you a small network of support and community while offering a quiet, comfortable environment. This type of program allows you to step away from your regular life and responsibilities while you focus exclusively on healing and recovery.

The average stay at our inpatient rehab is around 30-45 days, but we’ll work with each individual to form a plan that works for them. There are several things to expect during your stay at our inpatient rehab program:

  • A balanced schedule with plenty of helpful sessions and programs along with some free time.

Inpatient Rehab Key Benefits

Inpatient rehab is the right choice for many people who want to begin a journey of healing and recovery. However, it’s not your only choice. Below are some of the key benefits of choosing an inpatient program to help you make an informed decision:

  • Safer detoxing. While detoxing from a substance may be necessary, it can be painful, uncomfortable, and even dangerous without the proper medical attention. We help you through this process in any way that we can and medical professionals are on hand if necessary.
  • Sense of community. Although it can be an uncomfortable process, it’s helpful to know you’re not alone.
  • Higher success rate. Generally, inpatient rehab programs see a higher rate of long-term success and a lower chance of relapse.
  • Complete focus on yourself. With no distractions, responsibilities, or external worries, you can focus on yourself 100 percent. You can immerse yourself in our programs and activities while you heal not only your body but your mind and soul as well.
